An independent short-form documentary series on Linked In exploring the human experience of career transition
Job searching is typically discussed in terms of résumés, interviews, and employment statistics. Far less attention is given to the emotional experience of unemployment—the uncertainty, identity shifts, financial pressure, and resilience that shape people's lives between jobs.
I created In Between as an independent documentary series to explore those stories through authentic conversations with professionals navigating career transition.
THE CHALLENGE
Most career content focuses on advice. I wanted to create something different: a series that prioritized listening over instruction and human experience over career tips.
The challenge was to build trust quickly, guide authentic conversations without scripting participants, and shape interviews into stories that felt honest, emotionally engaging, and broadly relatable
MY ROLE
As creator and executive producer of the series, I:
Conceived the editorial vision and series format
Identified and recruited interview participants
Developed interview frameworks to uncover meaningful personal narratives
Conducted on-camera interviews
Directed production and visual style
Edited each episode to shape emotional pacing and narrative structure
Produced promotional assets for digital distribution
THE APPROACH
Rather than following a rigid question list, I developed flexible interview frameworks that allowed each participant's story to unfold naturally while maintaining a clear narrative arc.
Each episode was edited as a documentary rather than a traditional interview. The focus was on pacing, emotional progression, and thematic cohesion instead of simply presenting a chronological conversation.
The production intentionally avoids highly polished corporate aesthetics in favor of a more intimate visual style that supports vulnerability and genuine conversation.
OUTCOMES
Because In Between is an ongoing independent project, success is measured less by campaign metrics than by editorial quality and narrative craft.
The series demonstrates my ability to:
Develop original editorial concepts from initial idea through production
Conduct interviews that uncover authentic human stories
Translate long-form conversations into compelling narrative content
Build a consistent visual and editorial identity across a recurring series
Produce end-to-end documentary-style content spanning concept development, interviewing, directing, editing, and distribution
Additionally, one participant was able to land a new role quickly after their video premiered, directly as a result of the added exposure to their network.
